Intro to Time Management & Honors This week our class discussed the topic of time management and the criteria involved with being apart of the Honors Program. Time management is easy to discuss but not always easy to apply in life. In life, balancing all of the areas a student is involved in can be difficult. Dr. Engel, Dr. Desiderio, and Erin Martin came to our class to discuss the ways that we have to be involved in the honors program. Participating in community service during the semester will require some time management. Community service opportunities that were mentioned were “Step in Statesboro” and “Treasure Savannah.” While considering my options I did ask Dr. Desiderio about whether or not my hours from my sorority community service requirements could count for the Honors program also. Personally, I find balancing a social and academic life to be challenging at times. In class we discussed the concept of a triangle and how we should treat college like a triangle i

INTRODUCTION: Hey ya’ll! My name is Livia Lovett and I’m from Columbus, Georgia. I am a music major am currently enrolled in the BA program for voice. I absolutely love to sing and I grew up singing in church. I also enjoy painting and have an interest in interior design. I chose to come to Georgia Southern because the campus is very beautiful. I also decided to come to Georgia Southern because the opportunity for scholarships and to be apart of the honors program were offered to me. I like the fact that Georgia Southern is not massive however, it is also not miniscule. Another positive aspect to Georgia Southern for me personally, is that I have the opportunity to live away from home for the first time yet I can still visit my parents.
PERSONAL REFLECTION : My goals right now are to do well in my music classes. This is going to be a huge challenge because I will be taking music theory, piano, aural skills, and diction. Another challenge will be my honors classes. I personally think that I will benefit the most from the writing center and the library. I do not think that writing is my strong suite so the writing center could help me strengthen my writing. The writing center is located in the Department of Writing and Linguistics I also think that the library is a great resource for informatio n and is a good place to study. As I mentioned above, the definition myself and my classmate came up with is to be apart of something or to invest in something. Going to the library and the writing center would help me achieve this definition because I would be investing in the advancement of my education. These resources would provide the opportunity for me to have mentors inve

WEEK ONE: CAMPUS & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT As I embark on my collegiate journey it is good to know about the resources that are available to aid me in the struggles that are certain to come. Leaving home, and gaining an entirely new schedule has been exciting yet completely overwhelming. I can say that I did not get lost during the first week of school. However, with the task of handling my education I am certain that I will require some guidance. In college there are many ways that a student can become involved, and at Georgia Southern there are any many resources to promote campus and community engagement within the student body. There are resources to assist students struggling academically such as academic advising, the academic success center, and the writing center. The University also provides resources such as the library and computer labs to students which allows for the Eagle nation to do research and enhance our knowledge. Although academics are essen
